  1. I would get them to watch some higher level volleyball competition to get additional motivation. You could very well take them to some local high school or college games to start. Or get them to watch some on TV. If you have connections with some higher level teams and coaches, have them sit in on or practice a little with higher level players. This should help keep them motivated. Also have them talk with higher level players and I'm sure they would tell your team that losing is all part of it and it should help them grow in the sport.
  2. I use the military chain of command for my varsity team. Meaning if there is a problem with attitude or anything, i try to let my captains work it out. If that does not fix things, then i'll handle the situation as I see fit. Most varsity players will already know the team rules and expectations before the start of things. And they need to think of being on varsity as being the top players (elite) in their school. They need to think and carry themselves as ' The Few, The Proud, The Varsity!!!!'
