  1. I thought I'd help out with those in need of learning the swing. At the youth levels, 95% of hitters do not get into a good hitting position. No matter what their stance is, they must load and stride and get into a good hitting position on time. What is the load and stride? It is a small weight shift back and then forward. Your forward momentum will stop when your front foot lands. You can teach this by saying rock back slightly to your back leg, then take a sideways step. This helps hitters stride softly directly in front of them. Here is a good site for some baseball instruction: www.sewellbaseball.com. You can click directly to this link to look at big league hitters swing the bat correctly. www.sewellbaseball.com/major_league_swings.html I hope this can help some youth baseball coaches get an idea of getting hitters into a good hitting position so they can have more success.
