xtremedivatude 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2003 Hello group. I had a quick question I wanted to ask. I recently started a new job as an aftershool instructor/activity specialist for JHS children. I would like to start a volleyball team (loving the game, having played in high school), and have been given the ok to do so by my supervisors. However, when I asked if I would need to take steps to be certified in someway, I was told that it wasnt necessary since initially it wouldnt be a league sport. My question is this: Is it neccessary for me to be certified? (Im in NYC if that makes any difference) And if so, how would I go about doing it? If not necessary, is it something you would reccommend? I think its something I would like to follow through with even if it doesnt matter to my employer. Thanks a bunch... David 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2003 Certification requirements are usually determined by the organization that is hosting your particular league. They will usually tell you what the requirements are when you sign up to coach.I coach my children through many different organizations and each one has a different requirement or not requirement of certification. Even though I may have a certain certification for one organization in may not be valid for another organization.Bottom line contact the organization that you want to coach for and find out what their requirements are if any.
