Positioning Volleyball Players

I am a beginning coach for a 7th and 8th grade volleyball team. If anyone can give me info on the right way to position players on defense when receiving the serve and how to get the players to bump and dig, I would appreciate it.

Have you check the numerous websites available via the internet. Just search "volleyball_drills", you would be surprised as to what appears. At this level, your best bet is to do a "W" formation (during serve receive), which is a basic formation for youths. This is formed by taking your setter out of this formation and transforming the rest of the players into the letter "W", with the front row three players on the white line or 10' line.
