  1. Hello. I'm a 2nd year coach for flag football. I was wondering if anybody can offer me some suggestions to help our kids have fun, learn some skills and win some/most games. We are returning some third graders who are now 4th graders which will make a nice nucleus of about 4 to 5 players. Last year it took about 3 weeks for me to earn the kids respect. I know I must earn from the get go (first practice is in 2 weeks) Also we have about half our team that is athletic meaning they are quick and have some football smarts. I believe we can win most games with what we have this year. Last year we were humilated by better teams. I don't want the boys to be humilated even if we play a better team I want to our boys to compete with them. We had about 10 offensive plays last year and the only reason they worked was because we had an excellent line and fast running backs. Other than that we got lucky...I don't want to be lucky I want our boys to show what they can do and it all begins from repect for their coach and the game. Is that enough info for someone to offer pointers? I love the game of football and I have have coached this age group in several sports. Can anybody help? Thanks!
