  1. Olivet seems to have the best of Power T results. Coach at 10-12 y/o level we primarily ran dive, trap, power, counter trap, counter dive, sweep and counter pass and bootleg. Olivets plays where Big Shel told you about are great, alot of reps of same action the offense is a "winner".. just my 2 cents... Check Mike Vicars Presentation on "Power T" on Glazier Clinics in the Webinar section some very basic plays out of Power T. Dive, power, sweep, pitch, keep and trap are essentials and throw in a couple pass plays. Just Rep,rep, rep and you have plenty. Post if need some advice or some resources, I'm happy to help out anybody, because others have taken the time to help me out.
  2. Any coaches willing to share 44 Defense resources? What are your bases, stunts, blitzes and stem calls? What would have to be your best skill players? Olbs? Corners and FS? I am open to any coaches opinions. BTW I coach mostly 10-12y/o's in a 100 lb Division... Thanks for your time Coaches!
  3. I have to agree here with "Chair"..something we do out of Power I is use "motion" at times from any of the 3 backs. The reason is for a "Wing T look" from time to time and have been quite successful. AS 'Chair' has said keep it simple + reps + execution= Success We are multiple in that respect to our offense Power I / Wing T the olny things we do is maybe a TE over or unbalanced looks AND add some motion...
  4. great post Y-Jackets..in a game and even having a good scouting report use your judgement when Blitzing. Know the down and distance, wide side of field, short side of field and Hashes-these all come into play...yeah blitzing is fun for kids, but they need to taught HOW to do it. If they don't have it down PAT blitzing could be a "bad" thing. I love being aggressive too, but put the kids in the best position and just go with the flow....

  6. The 12 year olds I can see doing it but 8-9 year olds I can't. I need some of those 8-9 year olds that you seen run it so well. Would you happen to have any clips of the younger ones running the Wing T? If you keep the playbook thin, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Kids at 8-9 can be taught to pull and trap. I helped coach an 8-9 team last year. A few of the other coaches didn't think kids at that age could be taught to pull so we didn't even teach it until almost the end of the season. With only a few reps we had two or three kids that could pull. Have you seen any vids of teams running the DW offense? There are some similarities there and I've seen MANY videos of kids as young as 6 running it. They use motion, misdirection, trapping, etc. just like the Wing T. The kids can "pull" and if they can't just "X block it" (fold or crossblock)..you can get same result with plays like belly, trap, and qb keeper. It may be a good idea too to look into some DW sites (Jack Gregory's has some very good blocking concepts for younger kids-just research it). Some good plays are belly, down, power, pitch, trap, sweep, and qb keep. Try to run one or two passes of some of these, keeps every thing complimentary in teaching. Remember just rep it alot so they have good understanding of the play(S).. Good Luck coach. Just post again if you need some ideas. Coach 'Flynn'

  8. "Swoop" go to Coach Gregory's site: www.gregorydoublewing.homstead.com/ He has some great resources for Offense and Defense. Another great is : www.dumcoach.com There are just as many resources here too. It's good to go minimal plays and repititon is the "key". Make sure to stress fundamentals and be "positive' with the kids... there gonna make mistakes, it's how you get them to respond and stay with a great attitude during the season that makes or breaks ya. Keep it simple and you'll do great. Kids will love to play for ya.
  9. Coach you could have run a 6o defense with inverted backers to stuff the WISHBONE against that team. We played a team running wishbone and the defense we used limited them to "one first down" and we had three turnovers that led to scores for our offense. They were still negative in "total yards". The 3-3-5 or 3-5-3 can help too... COLTSCoach on Infosports has 3-3-5 defense template for youth. BTW it's an easy install and simple defense. Let me know if any of these defenses interest you?
