  1. I took over a girls 8U softball team and am confused about the batting stance that some of the other coaches teach versus my "controversial" style. The girls are facing coaches pitch and give a baseball stance with knees bent, feet shoulder-width apart, bat facing up and back In watching women's and men's slowpitch, as well as playing myself, I noticed the best hitters using a straight up stance, with feet close together and the bat somewhat resting on the shoulder. The batter waits to see the pitch then methodically takes a step forward and swings the bat with better speed by improving the "wrist-roll." Most of the coaches think I am teaching the girls a bad stance since the progression next is to machine pitch and fast pitch. Given all this, the girls have been very inconsistent at the plate with the baseball stance. Should I change them or what stance should they be learning?
