QB able to run definitely puts a twist on things. If you can send a rusher, that person's sole responsibility would be to contain the QB, not over pursue.I'm a big advocate of mixing things up on defense. We have audibles for our defense and call them out once we see the offensive formation. Everything from sending different rushers, more than one rusher, no rushers, switching looks, etc. Sending a rusher from the same spot each time or staying with the same look makes it too easy for an offensive coach to find exploits. As a side note, I think it's a mistake for a league to allow the QB to run with the exception of 5-6 yr olds. With 12-15 yr olds, it's too easy to send everyone deep, pump fake and let the QB take off running. We do the send receivers out then let qb run. I like the ideal of a free rusher at all time, what would be a good defense zone formation againts a pass happy team. QB not real fast but if given time can pick apart a team if given time. I was thinking 3:2 with rusher at all times.
