  1. Hi, I am an 8th grade travel team defensive coach and have been coaching high school and 8th grade for about 8 years. I just want to hear your philosophies on Fundamental Blitz coaching. I am working mostly out of a 5-3 D and I have quite a few blitzes. My philosophy is that to Blitz effectively you have to create an uneven match on the Line. So i have Pinch Plays, For A Gap Blitzes my Nose always lines up head on to the Center, then the pinch is with both DTackles lining up head on to the OGuards. Then the if the blitz is to the strong side, the Middle Linebacker lines up in the strong gap, then on the snap of the ball the nose goes to the weak side gap of the center and Dtackle goes to the strong side of the OGuard, splitting the line and opening the hole for the MLB. If i have a B gap blitz, i line the Dtackle over the guard and the DEnd over the Otackle and they split the line to open up the b Gap? Does anyone else have any other philosophies on blitzing, because i seem to be banging my head off a wall with the other coaches who think that when you pinch the line it weakens the C gaps or Flats. The outside linebackers and safety cover the blitz and the other players stay at home for their assignments? Just throwing this out there for another point of view. Thanks..
