www.championshipproductions.com has a great library of coaching videos. They have quite a few of the best collegiate coaches that give an overview of their practices. Drills, techniques, and mechanics are taught in these videos including hitting, pitching, base running, throwing, fielding, bunting, etc. They have everything!

A similar drill that may be beneficial is to use water logged baseballs. It does the same thing as a basketball, but makes the hitter focus on a smaller object. With this drill, I'd recommend using an older bat in case of denting.

I played baseball at the collegiate level and just graduated. I'm very competitive and trying to pick up the game of golf. The swings are similar but different. I had a very difficult time getting the golf ball in air since my baseball swing came down on the ball, providing good back spin, which increases distance. After going to a course with firends over the summer, I always found my baseball swing a little off, and had to take time to correct it. No matter what, each swing needs repetiition.....leading to muscle memory. In all, I would say that the swings contradict each other. However, I don't know if I'd limit a young athlete to only do one of the sport!

I have found that Championship Productions to have very beneficial tapes with some of the most respected college coaches. They have instructional books and videos for nearly all sports. In my library, I have videos featuring Mary Wise and John Dunning. Lately, I've ordered videos that include Bond Shymansky and Chris Lamb. These videos were great.
