hogs50 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2005 We run a wishbone offense mainly. Does anyone have any inputs on the best plays to beat a 5-3 defense? Thanks

CoachSteve 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2005 yup - about anything you want. Against a typical 5-3, your OG's are likely to be uncovered - you can use them in a variety of ways - double team the DTs or NT's, chip block and go for a backer, alley block on sweeps, pulls and traps. If you have the QB who can do it, an occasional speed option is very effective. This takes some reps in practice to get the read on the DE correct and it does get your QB hit though. But, when run correctly, you can eat up some yards in a hurry. KALAIBOY 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Yeah, speed option will annihilate that 5-3 and if your qbs got a gun play action all day. If you spread one of your TE's, the slant should be open. Run leads off tackle all day.
listerstorm 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 The 5-3?? Are your 3 inside line man over the 2 guards and center?? Gotta clear that up first before i say anything...but i do know to kill a 5-2 would be to run right at their LBs.
