  1. I think the biggest question for me is what are the long term effects of playing tackle from 2nd grade - 12th? It was by far the most enjoyable of the 3 big sports I played growing up, but lately catching lots of stories about repeated head trauma that might just be sensationalized, but maybe not. Don't want to over protect but then again don't want to neglect my parental responsibility. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/football-high/ http://www.time.com/time/video/player/0,32068,64253995001_1957921,00.html http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1957046,00.html http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/02/big-idea/concussions-text http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/02/big-idea/concussions-interactive My son is the biggest kid in his class (3rd) and lots of teams are asking him to play tackle. He doesn't have a cut throat attitude about it and I haven't pushed him, so we're going to do flag one more season while I weight the pros/cons. Like others say, the chances of him playing college/pros is slim, so I wonder if it's worth the brain trauma at an early age. Take care, UTB
