  1. Need some input. I have a division of 9-10 yr old boys, there were originally 3 teams in the division last year, and they played amongst themselves. we have enough kids registered this year for a 4th team and i was thinking of adding the expansion team, but i don't know how to fairly do it. Do i give the expansion team a core group of kids (4-5) and let them pick from the draft along with the rest of the teams. or do i let them pick twice per round.... any input would be greatly apreciated... Thanks
  2. Does anyone have a generic "POLL" that they use to send to the parents/players for feedback on the season to help their league correct any areas that may need help. we started a new league, and want some written feedback to make sure we improve each year. Thanks.
  3. Need more help. we have a situation where 3 teams have identical records and there is nothing in writing on how to determine who plays whom in the playoffs. our playoff is usually 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3....but they all have the same record. How should we determine the placement of the teams? My initial reaction was to go ith Points For and if there is a tie for the amount of points for, then the team with the lower points against would get the higher placement. Any other easier/ more fair recommendations, if any??? thanks
  4. Orange, we have started this process and are seeing what our next steps are legally... CoachJay, we have a copy of the by-laws and they are breaking every rule listed.. They by passed the elections and just self appointed themselves and when we asked to have elections they denied us the chance. The board was appointed by the president, so anything we ask for, they don't allow.. Unfortunately we are not part of a national organization, it's tough for us as coaches to take a firm stance during the season, without jeopordizing the kids.... but after the season, i'm sure things will heat up...
  5. Members, I need your help, and input!!! Our league is a nonprofit league, governed by written by-laws. Our current president is quickly running the league into the ground, and if something is not done, the kids will soon lose a league to play in. Here is a quick synopsis of what has transpired over the last year In 2007, elections were never held, and he re-appointed himself and what was left of the board members to the board, and the season started. I'll quickly hit some key points of this year (too many to list them all) 1. He placed his son and another board members son on a team, when the rule states that "ALL KIDS MUST BE DRAFTED. 2. he knowingly let children play as a ball carrier that were overweight, he weighed the child admitted to them being over weight and still let them play. 3. He added and removed numerous board members at will, disregarding the by-laws. (One of the board members he assigned is also a paid referee.) 4. he has instigated numerous arguments with just about every coach, and selectively suspending those that he does not like, but never himself. And the board sits and watches with disregard. 5. He selectively enforces and ignores rules, putting both kids and the league at risk. 6. Midseason, he had an argument with a coach, and then pulled his son, the starting quarterback, from his team and put him on another board members team. 7. He has abandoned all the coaches in the league, the volunteers that make the league possible, he has no regard for anyone or anything but himself! He has surrounded himself with a board that is not willing to hear the voices of the league coaches and parents, the coach put together a vote of "NO CONFIDENCE", took this decision to the board, asking him to resign, and if not, asking the board to vote him out. He basically denied us the right to do anything, and continues to run this league as a tyrant and not by the by-laws. We as coaches have our backs against the wall, and the only way left to get our message across is to walk out on the season, but NONE of the coaches feel this is right for the kids.... and we won't do it. But we need a way to get this guy out of the office, and get people in place that can run the league. Help!!!!!!!!!
  6. I've implemented LEG blocking over the past few years, and it is amazing how the kids change habits.... try it and keep with it... the key for me was to do LEG drills every practice...I implemented it as part of my warm-ups

    Fun Play

someone had posted a play some time back and I'm trying to find it.....it was something to the effect as follows: E....T.......................G...C... G.................T....E RB..............................QB........................RB ....................................RB I like to throw in a few crazy plays for the kids (7-9 yrs old) and let them have some fun....can someone send me more info as to what options you typically run off of this..... I'm assuming its either a flare pass to the RBs or either the QB or RB up the middle. Also How far can you split the tackle and end off the ball if they stay on the line????? Thanks Gator Coach
  9. Thanks for the input guys, my intention is to keep it simple and not confuse the kids especially this young. I am an old 4-4 guy myself, ran it in HS and College. I apreciate your input! Thanks again!
