rickref 2 Report post Posted May 31, 2013 UGH, had a kid suffer a bad break on his arm yesterday. Running flag pull drills and he was pulling another kids flag. He started to pull flags and the other kid and him collided just right. Nothing out of the ordinary thet can happen in flag. Anyone go through this before? I have never had a kid hurt this bad in tackle or flag before. It kills me. I feel so bad for him.
Coach Rob 26 Report post Posted June 3, 2013 I had a few kids collide and end up with mild concussions. Sprained ankles, but no broken arms.
Orange 26 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Me either, the worst I'd seen was kids getting dinged up. But I have had two of my kids get broken arms from riding skateboards.
Texas_D_Coach 14 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 My son broke his finger trying to catch the ball when he was about 8 or 9. He also broke his patella coming down from a jump ball on turf when he was about 11. We had another kid on our team slam his knee into someone elses and had to stop football for a while to let it heal (wasn't broken just really badly bruised).Sounds like you just had a very unfortunate event happen. I've coached 16+ seasons of football and I can only remember a handful of instances where there were serious injuries.
