Coachjay, Thanks for the response! That was a very nice read, and I agree with you totally! This is the kind of response that I respect very much! My son is very excited about playing even if he does have to play on the lines. I’m teaching him to play to his fullest potential no matter what position he plays. I have been telling him that every position on the field is important. That he could make the big block to spring the running back to the game wining score, That he could make a big sack to stop the other team from scoring the game wining touchdown. Even though I was on here kind of b!tching about the weight rule, doesn’t mean that I let my son in on my complaining! I try to make everything as positive as I can when I talk to him about the game. That’s why he’s excited about playing! Once again, thanks for the nice response!

Just having a little fun with gene thing! Nope, I didnt forget what I said! You can respond all you want! Just remember that opinions are like a$$holes, and some a$$holes need to be washed. A coach once told me that when I was starting Sam at Texas. before I was drafted by the Giants

First of all, the superior gene comment is kind of a joke. Trying to make myself feel that the reason that he’s more advanced at THIS STAGE is all about my genes… I never fill my sons head with anything about him being better! If anything, I’m harder on him more than the other kids on his baseball team, and hockey team. I have coached hockey for 6 years, and baseball for 2. I know about the whole some kids advance faster, and then the smaller less skilled players pass them by at an older age. Its not brain surgery! I never said anything about him being an NFL superstar, but I don’t see anything wrong with having high hopes for my son! Its no different then most of the youth coaches on this board that think they run an NFL team! Oh yeah, I have seen time and time again that these young advanced kids that fall behind is because when they get older, they just don’t care as much, and don’t have their parents working with them anymore. In a lot of cases if the advanced kids fall behind the less advanced kids should be blamed on the coaches for thinking that they don’t need as much coaching as the other kids! I see it every year in hockey. Don’t waste mine and your time responding to this thread anymore. Because all of the useless meanderings are giving me tired head!

First of all, kind sir, could explain something that I really don’t understand with your explanation of rules of weight because of other kids getting hurt: In the league that he will be playing in has a weight restriction of 95lbs for advancing the ball. Now my son is 119lbs, and he is going to be able to play defensive end under the NCAA rules. Can you please explain to me where this safety issue comes into play on this? Wouldn’t you rather my son be able to carry the ball and not be tackled, than for someone my sons size hit your 95lbs son and hurt him? That’s why I am pissed off about the rule! Oh yeah, one more thing. I never have a problem with any of the other leagues that he has played in (Baseball, Hockey, Soccer,) No weight restrictions in any of those. I’m even the head coach of his hockey team. If you don’t like my tone, don’t respond! I’m just a little frustrated with this weight limit thing! As far as the inferior gene thing goes. I totally stick by that comment! Not that I think he’s going to be the next big NFL star. Its just that right now he is better then every other kid in any sport he plays in, and I’m proud of that, and its not all about his size! Its because I work with him almost every day. Most Dads barely even make time to go to the games! Not to mention that Jeremy Shockey (a family friend) has been working with him.
  8. I just came across this website… I have a few questions… We will be playing in Mansfield Texas. They go by the North Texas Youth Football rules, but I cant find these rules anywhere on the net. Any help would be great! My son is going to be 9 this month. He’s 119lbs, and 5’2”. He has dominated every sport that he has played (Baseball, Hockey, and Soccer). He wants to play linebacker, and I think it would be a great position for him. This kid is so strong that he can knock me on my ass and I’m 6’1” 215lbs. Anyway, you guys mean to tell me that at a certain weight my son cant advance the ball because the smaller kids with inferior genes cant tackle him, but he is able to tackle the smaller kids? It doesn’t seem right to me! If I had a smaller kid, I would rather him not be able to tackle a kid like my son, rather then have a player my sons size hit my smaller kid. When I played PeeWee football, if we couldn’t tackle the big kids, we lost the game. If someone tells me that my son has to play on the offensive line, and that’s the only place he can play, or that he has to wear some sticker basically saying that your kid is fat (My son isn’t fat at all! Just built and tall) I’m going to raise all kinds of ######! I already have to listen to this crap from parents of the other teams in baseball, because my son hit’s the ball as hard as an adult. The parents are so scared that my son is going to hit them with the ball.
