rushbuster70 16 Report post Posted January 16, 2011 did you try sliding your defense to that side of the field?
Orange 26 Report post Posted January 17, 2011 Or try the 1-1-3 defense, it can be very effective against runs. You can easily cheat the middle close defender towards the side they are running. Also, crash the outside safety on that side and you should be able to stop it fairly easily. In a 2-1-2 if I was really worried about the run, I'd pinch on the corners tight and tell them to contain and force the run back towards the middle. Also, be more specific as to what was happening. Were you missing flags? Defenders not reacting. What happened?
yurirdgz 1 Report post Posted January 17, 2011 I had the same problem on a 2-1-2 with older kids. I did as Orange suggests in her, I crashed/ pulled my Cb some yards to the inside field to contain the run & force inside, If Hb did get passed to the sideline I instructed Cb to tail hard behind and avoid the cutback while safety closes the sideline gap.I eventually changed to another D setup.
