We have a sponsor who is interested in buying a hitting device. One he mentioned, but with which I am not too familiar, is the Mauer QuickSwing. I have seen them, but never in use. Anyone got any reviews?

CoachRob,
I dont have a reveiw as I have never used it but I do have an opinion. Plenty of those. Looks like a fairly decent product. What is the objective however? Looks like the product is for use by a player when no-one else is around to softoss to himself.
Your sponsor is footing the bill so why not check it out. It just seems a little hokey. Looks like an overpriced, only one person around (the batter), self toss machine. I would much prefer a couple of nice tanner tees or atec tees or the jugs tee (all very good 5 point tees).
Heck for $99.00 you could go get the Mike Epstien Hitting Systems DVD and DVD Book combo. Pass it around to the team. Just seems like there are better things to spend $99.00 on.
Just my opinion.......

I personally haven't seen or used those, but it's really a low budget soft-toss machine. I guess you could say since they only have a split-second to react to the ball coming out of the tube it requires faster reflexes than a soft toss. Which would be true, but the soft toss you can load around 20 balls (depending on type) and they can fire away in rapid succession. EXCELLENT drill!
Another advantage of soft-toss is you can move the ball approach around so that the ball comes from behind the hitter, which comes down to the same drill as the Quickswing.
So I'd say, spend another $100 and get a much better hitting device. You won't be sorry! I'd recommend the gravity fed systems like Slotoss. Lugging a generator around, or finding power somewhere is not fun.
Anyway, if you can't bust the extra dough, the Quickswing is still better than books.
