Okay so never coached flag football before. The league I'm in allows all 11 kids on the field and every player must play ever backfield position and run the ball every game. They also must score at least one TD during the season. As I am seeing a lot of 5v5 and 8v8 stuff. What type of offense do you suggest I run with these guys they will be 5-6 year olds for 11v11? Thanks for your help.

I'm assuming each team is responsible for making sure all 11 kids on their team run the ball each game? Or is there someone independent tracking that? Same with TD rule?

Regarding the type of offense to run, depends upon if there's blocking or screens allowed. If no blocking or screens, I'd tend to set up the same formation each time to make it easy to remember. I'd probably go with two wideouts one on each side, a center with two tackles, three in the backfield, two slots one off to each side and obviously the QB. The reason I like the slots out to the side is for fake handoffs and misdirection plays.

Your biggest challenge will be getting everyone to the los and making sure the person with the ball runs the right direction. If they allow two coaches on the field, I'd use an assistant to just take care of making sure everyone lines up correctly.

Maybe others will throw in their 2 pennies.

Thanks, coach. Yep each team is responsible for tracking the player positions and TDs.

We are able to block/ screen. The way it's been explained to me is the lineman do not huddle. One coach just makes sure they are in the correct spots and the backfield/receivers are in the huddle for the play.

Is that what u had in mind for formation?

Yes that was the formation, but now that you've confirmed the block/screen is acceptable, I'd probably go with a more traditional formation.

A lot will depend upon how much your kids can absorb, but you're pretty much looking at a tackle formation/strategy here. Blocking matters, so your line should be working on opening holes for the runners. I'm guessing misdirection and good fakes will still apply big time due to the age division.
