drea_5 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Hi, I'm a soccer player, not a coach. Last year in one of our leagues, I suddenly started getting weak, I wouldn't be able to move properly and my sprints were down to almost half the speed I'd normally do. Two other team mates complained of similar fatigue. I stopped playing, and I've been resting for 3 months now and I still get tired sometimes (wobbly legs and I get weak). During the time I was playing, I'd train with two teams, a college team and the national team. Have any of your players experienced this or do any players with anemia have a hard time? DevelopingAthletics 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2004 Hi drea_5,Interesting question without a definite answer. Your issue could be one of several factors, including medical, nutritional or over training-based concerns (which would actually qualify as nutritional).I would suggest that you see a physician to rule out any medical concerns. Nutritionally-speaking, there are a host of factors that could be contributing to your weakness/dizziness. Lack of calories (based on your energy expenditure), dehydration, anemia (as you mentioned) or electolyte issues could all be realistic answers. Over training, as I mentioned above, could also be a primary concern. Especially in the absence of a sound nutritional base, over training at any level is not nearly as hard as we assume it is. If you could provide me with a bit more information, I may be able to help direct you to a solution. All the best!- Brian Grassowww.DevelopingAthletics.com
