Having coached ages 8-13, I would say that the kids must learn the fundamentals first and a few simple plays. Most games are lost at this age because of simple things like lazy passes and missed layups. Teach the kids to look to pass first, dribble second, and always be aware of where the ball is. As for plays, the simple stuff works the best and will be part of their game as far as they go ... pick and roll, give and go, and a little backdoor to keep the D off balance. The goal for young kids offense should be to end up with a layup using the dominant hand.
In practice, try to get the kids touching the ball as much as possible to develop hand-eye skills. Conditioning drills should use the ball and mini-games, avoid repetitive running drills, as the kids will bet bored quickly. Good Luck!

Does anyone know of any video tapes showing basics of how to break a full court press? I coach 4th and 5th graders and need something simple and basic but effective?
