  1. haha at Ben Wallace. anyway, as an ex-awkward shooter, you just have to allow his muscles to develop. i was always a good shooter but was such a noodle in elementary and middle school i couldnt shoot fundamentally sound. eventually though, the guy needs to learn how to shoot correctly. give it time. get him to practice his form from very close ranges. good luck
  2. against a 3-2 defense, you have to have have an "even/odd" approach. in a 3-2, the defense is going to have 3 men up front. that means you have to counter it by having your point guard and shooting guard come down the sides of the court. you counter the 3 men by having 2 men in the gaps. down low, you can have one man (your center or best passing big man preferably) at the top of the key. your other two men will be in the corners of the court. as against any zone, ball movement is crucial. cuts to the basket are also essential since there are only 2 defenders "down low". you need to instruct your point guard on what decisions to make. 1) most likely, when he brings the ball down the side, 2 of the top 3 are going to trap him. the point guard must recognize when the players break toward him, then he has 4 options to pass the ball. let's say the other man up top cheats toward your other guard and the two big men down low guard one of your guys int he corner and your big man. you want to get your guard to skit pass the ball to your wide open man in the opposite corner. he should be wide open to shoot. if he's not a good shooter, teach him to pump fake since the defense will be rushing out on him and drive to the lane. 2) if the players dont cheat toward your other guard, you can simply pass to him. he can then spot the next most open man. 3) you can get your point guard to pass it to the man in his corner if open, then he can shoot, drive, dish to the center, or skit to the man on the other side of the court or the 2 guard. etc., etc. etc. a 3-2 is a trapping D USUALLY. basically you just want to counter it with opposite numbers and teach good ball movement. if you can get past the top three you should have PLENTY of open shots. good luck! Steve
