In Topic: How To Defense Bigger Teams

15 February 2005 - 02:02 PM

I tried the 1-3-1 with my sixth graders but it leaves the low corners to open cause my middle three kids had a problem driffting farther and farther up.  I only have one tall kid and so i went to a 2-3 and when the other team gets the ball to mid court i run what i call the blitz.  my top two kids charge the pg and most the time he freezes and picks up his dribble.  i have my two outside guys charge up at the same time to the wing spots.  We only use this a few times a game so the other team isn't expecting it.  The other advantage i found with my team in a 2-3 is that we get a lot more rebounds. Good Luck!
