Youth Football Drills - Angle Tackling Drill
| Purpose: |
Great
drill for combining tackling skills with proper pursuit and leverage
and position |
| Procedure: |
Align two cones five yards apart. Divide defenders into two
single file lines five yards apart facing one another and designate
one group as the ball carriers and the other group as the defenders.
The coach stands behind the first defender and signals the direction
to the ball carrier. On the coach's cadence, the ball carrier
takes off the designated cone. The defender closes the distance
and executes a proper angle tackle. The drill should be conducted
so that all defenders work angle tackling to both the right
and left sides.
